Connect Vapi to your AI SIP Trunk

Add your SIP trunk as a BYO provider in Vapi so your AI assistant can place and receive calls.

Before you start

You'll need an active AI SIP Trunk account with a username and password ready.

Add the SIP trunk

  1. Sign in to the Vapi dashboard.
  2. Go to Integrations > SIP Trunk, then Add SIP Trunk.
  3. Enter your provider's name and SIP gateway details.
  4. Enter the SIP trunk username and password from your provider.
  5. Review the details and click Save.

Add the phone number

  1. Go to the Phone Numbers section.
  2. Select Create Phone Number.
  3. Choose "BYO SIP Trunk."
  4. Enter the phone number in E.164 format.
  5. Enter the SIP trunk credentials for that number.
  6. Click Import Number.

Vapi's setup only asks for authentication credentials — it doesn't require you to specify SIP URIs, ports, or codec preferences separately.
